Muriel White BA, MEd, M Couns. PACFA Reg. Clinical 23122
I worked as a teacher and School Principal for many years in Western Australia. My particular expertise and interest was children with special needs, including those with a variety of social, emotional and behavioural problems. An important part of my role involved assisting and supporting parents to understand their child’s particular needs at each stage of her/his development.
I work with adults, and young people, particularly with issues linked to depression, anxiety, trauma, self harm, relationship problems, loss, grief, domestic violence and sexual abuse, and place a strong emphasis upon developing a relationship with clients that will assist them to develop a clearer understanding of their concerns, and a fuller sense of self. I believe it is important to work as a partner with my clients in a way that is most meaningful to them and their particular needs at a given time. I incorporate a range of therapeutic approaches and modes of self-expression.
I also have a long interest and experience in working with people who are coming to terms with the grief and ambiguous losses of having a family member with dementia, or the stresses of being a carer.
